At the limit between the north and the northeast coast near the protected wetland of Lake Antinioti between the tourist resorts of Kassiopi and Acharavis.Meros quiet with calm crystal clear waters ideal for children, the MLTC characteristic church of Saint Spyridon and some taverns.

Accessibility

Spiridon beach itself is flat although there is a little incline down to the first beach. To drive or walk down to the resort from the main road is fairly flat.

Cleanliness and Urchins

Agios Spiridon is a blue flag beach. There are no urchins on the main beaches but be careful at the far end near the rocks.

Agios Spiridon is known in the North East of Corfu as a nature reserve. The reserve is just a short walk or drive along from the beaches. There are many butterflies and wild flowers and the fish swim up the canal and lay there eggs here. There is also a lagoon behind the resort - which does increase the number of mosquitoes in the area!

This perennial has thick, flat, ribbon-shaped leaves, 2 to 4 cm wide, often showing one or more twists in the blade. It flowers from July through September with large, fragrant, very showy white flowers; their beauty inspired the ancient wall paintings of the palaces at Knossos on Crete and Thera on Santorini. This plant is distributed throughout the sandy coastal areas of Greece, but since it is the object of indiscriminate picking it is unfortunately becoming somewhat rare. St Spiridon is one of the few remaining places.

 

How To Get To Agios (Saint) Spiridon

 
Take the main road out of Kassiopi following the signs to Acharavi, the road is windy but wider than the previous roads of the North East. Stay on the main road until you se the sign on the right for Agios Spiridon turn down here and follow the road to the supermarket go past this continuing on the road bearing slightly to your left. At the end of this road you will come to the sea parking for a few cars is available here. There is more parking at the second bay which bears around to your right as you drive in.

Apraos and Kalamaki is a beautiful beach in the northwest coast of Corfu Island. It is about 5 km from the village of Kassiopi and about 40 km from Corfu Town. Apraos and Kalamaki Beach are being characterized by a Corfiot olive grove that ends in an endless sandy beach. This magical place is ideal for quiet vacations and romantic walks on the beach. When the sun goes down, orange and purple colors that dominate in the sky are in harmony with the blue waters of the Ionian Sea. The long wooden pier standing there for years and it keeps company to the lonely fishermen, to the lovers, and for so many others who want to enjoy the peacefulness of the sea.

Kalamaki - Where to swim

The beach is unique for families and young children, because the waters are quite shallow and makes the game fun and safe. In summertime boats from Kassiopi carrying people and organize BBQ, beach games and other events at Kalamaki beach. Also there exist sunbeds and umbrellas.

The area offers traditional Fish taverns which have view to the beach, Some of them are Kalamaki Restaurant, Nicolas Taverna, Dimakos Restaurant and two outdoor beach bars that offering cold beers, coffees and soft drinks. On the main road is a shop that sells handmade olive wood carvings in big variety and many designs.

 

 

3. ALMYROS

Almyros Corfu: Almyros is one of the longest beaches in Corfu located 45 km from the main town. It stretches for 7 km and is actually a continuation of Arachavi. The beach is known for its shallow waters and the soft sand that create a perfect and safe environment for the children. In contrast to the cosmopolitan beach of Arachavi, Almyros offers peaceful moments without lacking the basic tourist facilities like sunbeds and umbrellas. A couple of meters from the beach are some nice fish taverns with gorgeous view to the sea and the Albanian coasts. There you can have delicious Corfiot food and excellent seafood delicacies. There are frequent buses between Almyros and Corfu Town.
