The lagoon Antinioti
If you ask visitors to Corfu for the lagoon Antinioti probably will tell you that they have no idea. And wonders reasonable one: Corfu outside Liston or Paliokastritsa there?
Yet the Antinioti lagoon is one of the most stunning scenery in Corfu, with extremely sensitive and diverse ecosystem. Located on the north side of the island, in the municipality Thinalion after Almyros Beach and Agios Spyridon.
The lagoon Antinioti occupies a total area of about 400 acres and consists of the marsh Kounoufadi and mainly lagoon and is a place full of wildflowers and reeds and aquatic plants that not one finds anywhere else in the Ionian Islands.

According to Stamatis Gini Viologo- Ichthyology otters lives in the lagoon of Butrint in Albania and from there goes swimming marine narrow and comes in Corfu mainly in Antinioti lake. Its presence is not felt by humans as it is a wild animal coming out of the nest early morning and late afternoon but there are traces happily declare its existence.
In Antinioti lagoon one can find sixteen different species of orchids - the place is overgrown by wild flowers and vegetation and offers excellent setting for relaxing walks, photography and even a picnic if cautious.
The lagoon is also famous for its large farm, but do not expect to enjoy your fish there, as there are no restaurants near the lagoon. Returning to Corfu town you can certainly find a tavern with fresh fish from the lagoon.
